Stambaugh Auditorium / DeYor Performing Arts Center Box Office Attendant

Job Description:

The Box Office Attendants are responsible for general box office customer service and daily
box office operations.


  • Perform general box office responsibilities, including answering the incoming box
    office telephone line; checking box office voice mails; greeting and helping walkup customers, checking and responding to email; answering inquiries about ticket sales and event information; following up requests in a timely way; selling tickets; reconciling cash drawer and sales, following ticketing procedures and policies, and providing excellent customer care by being courteous and respectful at all times.
  • Perform duties including typing, preparing reports, reporting box office sales information, filing box office documents appropriately; copying or faxing documents as necessary or as requested; preparing and sending emails or mail; set up and maintain updated box office mailing lists; maintaining folders and paperwork pertaining to the box office; assisting the Guest Services Manager, House Manager, and Events Manager as needed. Assisting with general office duties when needed.
  • Arrange flexible hours when necessary to accommodate needs of the facility and events.
  • Perform other duties as they arise or are requested.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience with or ability to learn computerized Box Office systems.
  • Experience with cash handling and cash management
  • Commitment to excellent standards of customer care
  • Outstanding customer service skills with an ability to work well with the public, responding in a courteous and cooperative way.
  • Professionalism in interactions, language, personal presentation, work habits, and in
    performance of day to day tasks
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • An interest and enthusiasm for the arts.

Experience and background required:

  • High school education with successful customer service experience preferred.


  • Monday thru Friday regular set hours &evenings and weekends to cover event-related box
    office duties as needed.


Guest Services Staff

Our Guest Services staff often serve as the first point of contact during events – both public and private at the DeYor Performing Arts Center and Stambaugh Auditorium. Guest Services personnel will work closely with the Box Office as well as other Guest Services staff, volunteers/ushers and the public.

The position is part time, on an as needed basis. Hours per week could range from 5 – 25 hours depending upon the number and type of events scheduled. Employment is classified as casual labor with no payroll or tax deductions.
A candidate for this position should be able to stand and walk for at least 2 – 3 hours at a time. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Greet and direct guests at entry and exit point(s) – may include some outdoor locations
  • Scan tickets at entry point(s) inside the venue
  • Interact with patrons in a friendly manner; answer basic questions
  • Provide assistance to patrons regarding concerns or special needs
  • Monitor assigned areas of the venue (inside or outside of the property) for issues/problems
  • Communicate effectively any issues/problems to the appropriate departments


Food & Beverage Staff

The ideal staff member must have a great work ethic, have reliable transportation, and a motivated and positive attitude. Staff members are responsible for working safely and following the policies and procedures of the organization.

Responsibilities for all Food & Beverage positions include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to interact with guests, co-workers, and supervisors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Professionalism in interactions, language, personal presentation, work habits, and performance
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow established protocol
  • Ability to follow food and employee safety procedures
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift

Work Schedule: mostly weekend and evening shifts.

Available Positions:

Food & Beverage Preparations / Assistant Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in preparing simple foods
  • Assist in stock and inventory management; assist in cleaning preparation and service areas
  • Providing general support to other food and beverage staff.

Bartender (21+ years), responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Utilization of a Point of Sale system
  • Receive orders from guests; fulfill orders; prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to keep the work area organized, stocked, and clean
  • Ability to serve guests in a timely fashion
  • Provide guest/customer service.


Food & Beverage Manager

The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for leading the food and beverage department for all facilities operated by the Henry H. Stambaugh Auditorium Association. The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer care by overseeing all aspects of service and service staff as well as ensuring a clean and safe environment. This position is to ensure the operational and financial success of the department in addition to building a culture of teamwork, operating procedures, and creative problem-solving.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all day to day department operations including:
  • Schedule department staff
  • Ensure all department staff are following organizational policies and food service best practices.
  • Manage all food service areas, concessions, kitchens, and bars to ensure proper event preparation and operation related to food and beverage
  • Maintain the highest level of sanitation throughout all food and beverage areas.
  • Oversee the overall operation of the stock rooms and department storage areas including but not limited to: stock rotation, preparation, distribution, inventory management, and bookkeeping.
  • Evaluate all food and beverage equipment and make requests for repairs / replacement.
  • Oversee the care and set-up of linens, table settings, glassware, etc.
  • Manage, seek approval, and communicate department purchases
  • Order department supplies as needed to maintain proper inventory levels
  • Hire, manage, train, and develop staff in all aspects as needed for the department including policies, standards of quality and service, and organizational and operational expectations.
  • Work closely with other departments to achieve operational requirements
  • Be an active and contributing part of the organization’s leadership staff
  • Participate in pre-shift, pre-meal and/or pre-event meetings with all necessary staff for all involved departments
  • Exhibit great communication skills and work as a contributing team member with other departments (i.e. Event Department, Operations, Guest Services, Production, etc.)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ability to work days, evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in all business software platforms, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Outlook, and Google Suite.
  • Previous experience in developing, implementing and evaluating service related standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to work effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.


Production Staff

The ideal staff member must have a great work ethic, have reliable transportation, and a motivated and positive attitude. Staff members are responsible for working safely and following the policies and procedures of the organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Follow safety, operational, and preservation policies and expectations.
  • Execute all production and technical related tasks as assigned. This shall include: load-in, setup, operation, strike, and load-out of all equipment and materials needed for an event.
  • Ensure that clients and visiting production staff are made to feel welcome and supported.
  • Monitor the condition of all production equipment and related areas.
  • Make the Production Manager aware of service, maintenance, or other needs to maintain a properly functioning stage and production department.
  • Ability to interact with guests, co-workers, and supervisors in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Professionalism in interactions, language, personal presentation, work habits, and performance.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments without prompting and with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to adapt to a physically demanding role that encompasses frequent lifting of 50lbs or greater, pushing carts and cases, climbing, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking to overcome challenges.
  • Ability to closely follow directions with a strong attention to detail
